History

Above the Sea Charters based in Miami, FL, is officially incorporated as a yacht charter business in the year 2014. The idea to open Above the Seas Charters is born because the founder, who owns and operates a marine repair business located in Miami saw a niche in the market for a specialized yacht charter business.  One year later, in 2015 the founder of the company Kamal Alonso began to work on expanding the business through social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.

In 2017 Kamal established a partnership with one of South Florida’s top Yacht Broker, Raul Leoni and together grew the operation exponentially. Even more growth came during Covid due to the fact that it was the most sought-after activity in South Florida during those hard times. Today the company is considered to be one the leading charter’s companies in south Florida.

Who we are

Kamal Alonso founder and now co-owner of Above the Sea Charters, is a mechanical engineer, specializing in marine operations. Of Venezuelan and Lebanese dissent, Kamal has always grown up and lived around all things involving the ocean. His extensive knowledge extends not only in the charter business, he is also the owner and operator of Marine Overhauling located in south Florida, a very successful boat and yacht repair located in Miami, Fl.

Raul Leoni, co-owner since 2017 of Above the Sea Charters and top Yacht Broker of South Florida, has almost two decades of knowledge in the yachting industry ranging from brokerage, management and charters. Recognized throughout the industry in Florida he has become an integral member of the company being his entrepreneurial skills to help grow the company to where is stands today.

Above the Sea Charters has one main mission, and that is to achieve client fidelity through excellence in service. We strive to provide each client with personalized service to cater to their every need, from choosing the right vessel, destination, experiences and added services such as adventure water toys, culinary needs and entertainment. The company continues to grow adding new vessels every season and looks to position itself as the most as the number one is charter company in South Florida.
